David Foster’s professional career took off when he was first introduced to music producer David Paich, who invited him to his studio and played the original “Now That You’re Here” for him. Foster had been working as an assistant engineer for Paich on a session with singer Deniece Williams and guitarist James D’Aquisto. The song inspired Foster so much that he started composing songs of his own at night. He soon became a successful composer in Los Angeles.
